Another heavy deed done. Today, I sold my dad’s beloved car. He adored that little Beetle and took immensely good care of it. I loved it, too. About once a year, I borrowed it to go on a European road-trip. And, for a long time, I thought, “One day, I’ll take over this sturdy, timeless, little beauty, and keep driving it until it has half a million kilometres.” ☺️ But 2 years ago, I ended up buying another used car. So now, when I inherited this one, it made more sense to sell it.
The wonderful thing is, I managed to sell it to an old friend who was really enthusiastic about buying it, even though she doesn’t like white cars! Even better, she wants to keep the license plate, which makes me super happy, because the plate is actually his initials and birthdate. So it’s super personal and wonderful if the Beetle keeps cruising the streets with exactly that plate. Now, I just hope my friend’ll fall so much in love with this little treasure on four wheels, that she’ll keep it for a long, looong time ☺️. I know, I’m being really nostalgic here and in the end it’s just a car. But it meant so much to my dad. So, I can’t help but hope for a bit of continuity in the midst of all these rapid changes 🥹🌞
